Cutting Lessons

We have a love for the cowhorse and have determination to always be improving our abilities, please come and practice with us so we can continue to improve each other. We provide lessons at the ranch with cows and buffalo that creates a superb atmosphere to learn in. We have a verity of training devices to help you and your horse improve. Our facility is well cared for and has great ground to prevent injury and give your horse the footing it needs. We work constantly to provide a safe healthy environment for your horse to perform in.

Shows

When you are successful we are successful, let us be apart of your team. We can provide show tune ups as well as show help so you can perform at your best. Remember that “confidence is being prepared for any scenario that may arise” we are well educated in what needs have to be met to have success at a cutting show. Westin has coached clients to go on and win multiple aged event championships.

Being a board member of the Utah Cutting Horse Assoc. we are always inviting people to come experience cutting for the first time, if you have never rode a cutting horse before you need to come down to the ranch! Riding a cutting horse needs to be on everyones bucket list, the only thing we ask is that you Hold On! The sport of cutting is a great family event that has a welcoming environment to socialize with fellow horsemen and horsewomen.

Head Trainer

Westin Sampson is the head trainer for Double Down Horse Ranch that is founded in Benjamin, Utah

Westin has showed that his abilities are worth investing in. His love and ability for training is showing through how his horses perform. He has trained horses that went on and seen success in Rodeo, Pleasure, Ranch, Roping, Barrels, Reining, Reining Cowhorse, and Cutting. Even though our main focus is Cutting horses we have horses that succeed in and out of the cutting arena. After a long period of learning from great trainers Westin entered the show pen to continue his knowledge. He had great success his Rookie Year making the Mecuria World Finals being one of the top 10 riders in the $2,000 rider class. He has also had continued success in the Open Divisions and continues to show that he is a fierce competitor. Here are a few of his accomplishments-
